Dear folk of Shepherd's Bush,

Here is another important day for your diary; Saturday 6th August 2011.

This is the date for Shepherd's Bush Festival. Organised by local people for local people the Festival takes place on Shepherd's Bush Green and will feature live music (a LOT of very different types of live music from Hip Hop to Reggae to African beats), creative workshops (where you can learn circus skills, capoeira and dance) as well as a huge range of different food featuring all the cultural influences who have shaped our Bush; Caribbean, Thai, north African, British, African and European.

The event will run from 1pm until 6pm and will also feature children pleasing activities such as face-painting and a bouncy castle.

I will blogging more information about the event and its history this week, but with summertime fun well underway I thought it worth making sure the 6th August 2011 was pencilled in your diaries as part of that. You can also find more information at

I leave you with part of the Bush Festival team's mission statement:

"It is hoped that the Bush Festival will also change the minds of people who have preconceived ideas about the youth of today and allow them to overcome those prejudices

Bush Festival 2011.

For the people, by the people"

Lots of Bush love,
Birdie x
