Back of the pub quiz?

It's been a while since the last big Bush piss tweet up hasn't it? That's not to say that people haven't been out there representing; I know a few mini tweet ups have taken place and the more intelligent Bush Twitterati have recently broken off to create a successful pub quiz (well done tw'eam!).

Following on from their success I am hoping to see a certain number of you next week for a very special pub quiz. On Thursday 28th July 2011 from 8pm onwards in the Defectors Weld pub, Oxjam Shepherd's Bush Takeover are hosting a fundraising pub quiz. Also featuring music and a raffle (wow, it's been a while since I entered a raffle!) tickets cost £5 each and teams can be made up of up to 5 people. I spy some inter-Bush Twitterati rivalry! The proceeds will go towards the funds needed to put on Oxjam Shepherd's Bush Takeover on 29th October 2011. Following the Takeover itself where pubs and venues across W12 will host live music and comedy all leftover funds raised from the event will go to Oxfam.

This will be a great opportunity for you to also meet the team behind Oxjam Shepherd's Bush Takeover. I was lucky enough to have a lovely chat with one of the organisers Georgina a week or so ago and she explained how exciting it is that the first Oxjam Takeover in Shepherd's Bush. Yet this doesn't mean it's without it's small challenges in terms of raising awareness and support, unlike other longer established Takeovers in places like Manchester or in Brixton and Brick Lane in London.

After hearing all about their plans and ideas to achieve the same level of popularity and success, combined with their raw energy to make it happen, I have no doubt it will be a successful event on October and hopefully the first of many; they've already confirmed the event's hosts as stand up comedians Luke McQueen and Rachel Stubbings.

Here's some audiovisual recorded offerings from them:

Is there a better mix than music, comedy and Shepherd's Bush?

I have no doubt that Georgina and the rest of the team, who are all volunteers, will make the streets of Shepherd's Bush come alive for Oxjam Shepherd's Bush Takeover and I look forward to supporting this next Thursday. Maybe I'll see you there?
